TWIN BUTTES OPENS LIGHTNER CREEK TRAIL
Twin Buttes of Durango is pleased to announce that the entire Twin Buttes trail system is now open. The lower Lightner Creek Trail has been closed due to ongoing construction of the new Historic Tram Park (to be dedicated to the City of Durango at the “Bash at the Buttes” on Sept. 8th), but it is now open from the West trailhead on Lightner Creek Road (CR 207) the entire length to the East trailhead located on Hwy 160 just west of the Giant Gas Station.
The 12-mile Twin Buttes Trail System was built by Twin Buttes and then dedicated to the City of Durango to be enjoyed by hikers, trail runners, horseback riders and mountain bikers. We encourage all people using the trails to be courteous and be aware of their surroundings so that everyone can enjoy them. Please avoid using the trails for 24 hours after any major rain event. For more information about the trails you can go to www.twinbuttesofdurango.com and download a map of the trail system or call the Twin Buttes of Durango office at (970) 259-3883.
